{Day 15} He Gently Leads Those With Young - Isaiah 40:11

Okay, so I made it to the halfway mark of this 31 Day Challenge! I never could foresee how difficult this would actually be. But I'm thankful to have made it this far--and am thankful you're still sticking around here with me.

I love blogging and getting my thoughts out on the screen, so blogging for 31 whole days should have been easy, right? Yikes. Wrong.

It's not been easy. But it has been a good challenge for my mind as a writer and a promise keeper.

I will do this. I will keep my promise.

There is one thing I have absolutely loved about this project. I've been amazed at how God lays His Word on my heart each and every day. He continually reminds me of scripture I already know.

So it's really like His 31 day love letter to me.

And in turn, I can relay His message on to you. Because it's His love letter to you too.

The verse for today comes from the book of Isaiah. It has been one of my theme verses in this last year since Emmalie was born, when the parenting intensity turned up several notches. Okay, several hundred notches.

Isaiah 40:11

11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
    he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
    and gently lead those that are with young.

I think we all know or have heard of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Or that He leads us like a shepherd. And that God is the Shepherd of Israel. But have you ever thought that he takes extra special good care of those who are caring for children?

The verse says He will, "... gently lead those that are with young." And I don't think Isaiah is talking about literal sheep here.

 He sees us.

The way we hold vigil by bedsides of sick kiddos.
The times we put aside our own desires for what's best for them.
He knows how hard it is mentally and physically to care for children, may it be one or twenty.
The weariness with which we fall into bed at night, sinking like concrete into the mattress.
The hopes we have, and the prayers we pray.

He knows.

So He gently leads us. If you're ever feeling like you just can't do this, or that maybe you're not cut out for this--just remember that God makes special provisions for us. Because He knows just how hard all of this is.

Just ask Him, He'll tell you how special you are. Doing His work. Being His hands. You're doing a good thing, mom.

This day's post comes with a bonus. I'm reaching out squeezing your hand through the screen. Can you feel it? I hope so. You are a treasure to God's kingdom. A necessary part of God's great, big plan.
