{Day 1} Mighty to Save - Zephaniah 3:17

{Day 1}

Oh, boy. Just what have I gotten myself into?

In the month of October, bloggers all over the web commit to writing on one topic for 31 Days straight. I've heard about it, and have read through the series' put out by my favorite bloggers. But have never felt compelled to participate until yesterday. Yesterday! While others have spent time planning and writing posts ahead of time, I'm over here wingin' it. But that's how I roll. I don't plan. I just do. So if you're here not expecting anything amazing from me, you're in the right frame of mind.

And if you're here expecting amazing things from God? You're also in the right place.

Because He always has good things for us. I'd imagine that digging into His Word is one of His favorite things to see us engaged in.

It came to mind that in the month of October, I could share God's word with you, show how it relates to our mothering, and call it good. But the more I thought about it, the more excited I became. For me and for you. This isn't just a get it done sort of thing. It's a slow down and soak it up sort of thing.

So if you're with me, let's dig on in.

Zephaniah 3:17

17 The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

This is one of my absolute favorite verses. It quickly came to mind when I was praying about today's scripture. Each line just speaks of such promise.

He's in our midst.
He saves us.
He rejoices over us.
He quiets us.
He exults over us.

I can't get over the glory of it all. For me. He does this for me. For you. He does this for you.

And it's just because He loves us. Even when we push against and reject Him. He's here.

Even when we don't think we need Him in the moment. He saves.

When we don't feel so happy with ourselves. He rejoices.

The times we worry? He quiets.

When we fill our lives with noise. He sings louder. Over us.

He is like a mother bending and hunched; stroking the fine hair in the crib below. Quieting. Comforting. Singing. Rejoicing with thanksgiving.

All because we're His.

  1. I'm looking forward to following along. I honestly don't know that I've sat and read much from Zephaniah. Thanks for highlighting this verse. I too decided to do a series only a few days before. It's a little scary, but I'm looking forward what God teaches me through my own 31 day journey of focused prayer.

  2. I love it...love this verse too! The fact that He would sing over me just thrills me to no end...for one thing because I love to sing and the thought of the God of the universe using His voice to make melody over me is too much for me! It reveals so much about His heart! Looking forward to your posts each day!!
